ALAN POZA

Starring:  O.C. Ukeje, Okey Uzoeshi, Beverly Naya, Belinda Effah

Synopsis

Alan Poza, a proud playboy, saw women as nothing but sex objects until he met the right woman – his boss.

Review:

Alan Poza thought  he had women all figured out. On the day he believed he was getting a promotion, it was a woman that landed the job instead of him. The woman was Pride (Beverly Naya) and she was a newcomer to the firm. Alan loved her because she was attractive yet he hated her because she was his boss.

Alan’s disappointment in being passed over for the new position prompted him to do some thinking. Not on how he can better himself so he’s ready for the next promotion but how he could go about dealing with Pride. His plan in a nutshell was to bed her, emotionally control her, dump her, and then quit the job. But Pride heard all about Alan’s womanizing ways and she made it known to him that their relationship would be strictly professional.

Pride eventually loosened up her pearls when Alan scored a recording artist for the company. They hung out, one thing led to another, and they wound up in bed together.

On the following day, Pride was perfectly fine with it being a one-night stand however, Alan surprisingly experienced those warm and fuzzy feelings. Oops. Change in plans. Alan believed he was genuinely interested in Pride and pursued her.

Pride was reluctant to allow things to get emotional at first and just when she started falling for him, Alan had a new revelation – he was in love with his secretary! Pride swore him off for good and became yet another heartbroken woman on Alan Poza’s list. But it didn’t end there because Alan’s gigolo past came back to haunt him.

Let’s Talk. This movie was certainly entertaining but it had some bothersome dialogue regarding women. The movie seemed to depict women as easy, gold digging, sex objects, which is insulting.

Alan Poza stated there are two ways to get a “twenty-first century girl” (whatever that means) under the sheets. 1) Wine, dine, and cuddle, however this method may take some time. For faster action a man must 2) Drive a luxury car and spend some money.  How lame. Doesn’t these methods relay that all men want is sex? Why wasn’t that the subject of the movie?

It’s funny that men flaunt their wealth and cars to get women and when it works, they somehow don’t respect women. You can’t complain that all a woman wants is money if that’s all you presented. Game attracts game. If flashing your assets didn’t work that’s another issue but if it does work then what’s there to talk about? Why make a movie about it? If a man doesn’t want his wallet to be the magnet in the relationship then leave it out of the equation. Try impressing a woman with your mind.

You see the truth of the matter is that some men have no choice but to resort to money and luxury cars because not all men have the gift to gab or the charm and charisma. Less attractive men may count on their Mercedes Benz like a lifeline. But at the core, men who use money to attract women like to control. This type of man wants a woman to need him but a confident man wants a woman to want him. Big difference.

“Alan Poza” came off as an office drama. The relationship with the secretary came out of nowhere and the dancing between them was corny. I will admit that there were some funny scenes and the Pride character had a few punch lines that put Alan Poza in his place.

In terms of acting, O.C. Ukeje does the Alan Poza role justice and the supporting cast suffices but at the end of the day the story was so-so, offensive to women, and basically pointless. EJECT
