Review:

Very married Duke (Chet Anekwe) arrived in America and landed a new job and a new woman. He used the excuse of working the night shift to continue spending time with his new love but he later discovered that she was his wife’s childhood friend.

Duke may as well had stayed in Africa if he wanted to play instead of planning a better lifestyle for his family.

Let’s Talk“Night Shift” started out as a story about a couple that relocated to the US to live the American dream but it turned into story about cheating and deception.

In one scene Lola (Chika Gustora), Duke’s lover called him at home one evening while he was in the presence of his wife (Taka Tanni). He spoke with her in riddles hoping she would catch on that his wife was nearby but she didn’t. She instead remained clueless on the other end and looked confused. Was she stupid or was she stupid? Some men cheat on their wives with women who aren’t even worth it.

The most sickening part of the story was when Lola dropped to her knees to beg Duke’s wife for forgiveness for screwing her husband. Really? Once a woman has chosen to screw her friend’s man she has simultaneously decided that she’s no longer interested in the friendship. Let’s get real here.

The subplot was about Albert (Best Davis), who was also cheating on his wife with a co-worker at a hospital. In one ridiculous scene Albert’s lover, Bibi (Zoakenia Blah) had an outburst with him at work. Did she really confront her married lover, on the clock, in front of the patients? How absurd.

In terms of acting, the cast was great but the story could have used a few tweaks.

Although the story seemed to be all over the place, there was a spiritual aspect that reminded us that God governs our lives. RECOMMEND
