ROOM SERVICE

Title: ROOM SERVICE (1 & 2)

Sequel: AFTER THE SERVICE  (1 & 2)

Starring: Mercy Johnson, Van Vicker

Synopsis:

A man picks up the wrong woman on a blind date, however things turn out great for them when the mistake is uncovered.

Review:

Derek (Van Vicker) was all set to go on a blind date. When he arrived at the hotel room, he met Gina, the hotel maid. She was all dressed up and Derek assumed she was his date.

Gina went with the flow and spent the evening with him. When the charade was uncovered Derek wasn’t angry; in fact, he wouldn’t have had it any other way.

Let’s Talk. Derek is a movie star who fell for a hotel maid. How likely is that to happen? Not very. But it doesn’t matter because that’s why we watch movies – to believe in a fantasy for a few hours. It’s one of those feel good movies with a fairy tale ending.

The sequel titled “After The Service” took a completely different turn when Derek dealt with the shock that one of his past loves, Juliet, was actually Gina’s sister. What was unbelievable was that Gina didn’t know her sister was once involved with Derek.

How could Juliet suffer such a tragedy in connection with Derek, give birth to his son, and her family not know of or at least heard of some guy named Derek?  And why is the conflicting love interest always the sister or the best friend? This is an all too common theme in Nollywood films.

The most irritating part of the sequel was the scene where Juliet explained her past with Derek to Gina. It dragged on and on and on. Why couldn’t she just get to the freakin’ point?

Despite the faults, “Room Service/After The Service” was engaging enough to RECOMMEND
