A LONG NIGHT

Starring: Uche Jombo, Van Vicker, Julius Agwu, Bayray McNwizu, Dayo Amusa, Tamara Eteimo

Synopsis:

A quick home invasion turns out to be an unplanned all-night ordeal.

Review:

Anita (Uche Jombo) and her family were having a normal evening at home when armed robbers invaded their home. The robbers knew she visited the bank earlier but when she convinced them that she didn’t succeed in withdrawing any funds, they decided to escort her to the bank the next morning, which meant they spent the night in her home.

The robbers held the family against their will in the living room and it proved to be a tense night but the question of the day became how did the robbers know of Anita’s intention to make a cash withdrawal in the first place?

Let’s Talk. This movie is an attempt to conjure up intrigue and suspense but it didn’t quite get there. Not only is this a movie that we’ve seen before, it’s a story that simply didn’t ring true.

First off, what robbers would spend the night? That’s way too long of period to hang around the victims and it also increases the risk of getting caught.  Secondly, there’s a scene where the police came by the home and the opportunity to hint that something was wrong didn’t happen.

Also distracting was the fact that the politics in the house with the robbers went on for too long and caused the story to lose any steam it may have generated. By the time we got to the end of the movie, the robbers were apprehended but the way that it happened and the reason behind the robbery was so, soo lame.

On a positive note, the movie was populated with some of Nollywood’s favorites – Uche Jombo, Van Vicker, and Tamara Eteimo. The acting sufficed but there was no performance that could have resurrected a movie that was doomed in the first place.

No complaints with production quality and sound.

The verdict? This movie presented nothing creative, unique, or enthralling. EJECT
