Title: INTERNATIONAL GAMES (1 & 2)

Sequel: INTERNATIONAL ATTACK  (1 & 2)

Starring:  Jackie Appiah, Rita Nzelu, Gareth McChilery, Stephen Hammond, Ikenna Obi, Abiye Tonin Spiff

Synopsis

Mma relocated from Nigeria to London and got fed up of being labeled an illegal alien. She  set out to dupe her boyfriend into getting married so she can get a green card but her scheming backfired.

Review:

Mma (Rita Nzelu) was on a mission to get a green card. She was dating Richard (Gareth McChilery) and they lived in England together. In order to impress him and be accepted by his peers, Mma pretended she was a Nigerian princess. She even went as far as to bring a friend from Nigeria to work as a servant in her house.

Mma believed that once Richard became accustomed to the pampered life, he would marry her. Actually, once Richard got used to being served, he fell for the servant!

Let’s Talk. Jackie Appiah played Blessing, the servant and friend to Mma. She traveled to London under the premise of a new job unaware that she would have to play a servant and become a part of Mma’s plan.

Unwilling to travel back to Nigeria, Blessing accepted the job and did it well. She cooked for Richard, massaged him, rubbed his back, danced for him, you name it! And Richard ate this up. When Mma sensed Richard was attracted to Blessing, she told him that Blessing had an infectious disease. Once that fabrication was revealed Richard no longer trusted Mma and was even more captivated by Blessing.

This story was not a total bust or particularly fascinating. The heart of the drama was that Mma believed life with a servant would draw Richard toward her but it’s what caused her to lose him.

If a green card was all that Mma was after she could have just married Ade (Ikenna Obi) who professed his love for her and just forget about all the nonsense she cooked up.

“International Games” abandoned Ghana and Nigeria and was shot in London, which was a welcome change of scenery. As for technicalities, the picture quality was not the greatest and there were sporadic issues with sound.

In terms of performances, the main cast gave respectable performances with Jackie Appiah commanding the most attention. She not only played the house girl like a champ, she brought humor to the story.

Also, the production was made up of a racially diverse cast which is becoming popular in the Nollywood industry. RECOMMEND

Please note that the sequel titled “International Attack” has not been reviewed therefore the above review is incomplete.  The sequel is yet to be found as of the date of this posting. Please read the Nolly-Ghally Today article for more on frustrations with the Nollywood industry.
