CONTRACT

Sequel: None

Starring:  Yvonne Okoro, Hlomla Dandalo, Benjamin Joseph, Jasmine Baroudi

Synopsis:

Peter is a handsome, successful bachelor that refuses to commit to any woman. His desire to be a father leads him to hire an unemployed woman to give birth to his child – no strings attached.

Review:

Peter (Hlomla Dandalo) is a man that is adamant about having his freedom. He thinks all women are the same and has no plans to ever marry. He does want a child however, and he figures the best way to do this is to just hire someone.

He meets Abena (Yvonne Okoro) in a restaurant as she is trying to ward off the advances of an unwanted suitor. When Peter sees her seated at her table counting her change it’s obvious that she’s in need of money and he views her as the perfect candidate.

At first Abena refused but financial issues forced her to reconsider. Peter’s attorney (Benjamin Joseph) drew up a contract and Abena signed on the dotted line. The terms were for Abena to give birth and hand the baby over to Peter with no further involvement in the child’s life.

Abena became pregnant and she moved in with Peter while he continued dating women.  When Abena decided she needed a husband, no man measured up to Abena’s standards except…Peter.

Let’s Talk. “Contract” is an impressive production. It shows that matters of this nature shouldn’t be chalked up to business because human emotions tend to interfere.

As much as Peter wanted to stick to casual relationships it turned out that he had a heart somewhere in there. The movie is sprinkled with funny dialogue and the rapport between Peter and Abena simply worked.

Performances were top notch. Hlomla Dandala nailed it as the stringent, germ phobic, control freak and Yvonne Okoro gave him a run for his money as the financially troubled yet clever, Abena.  RECOMMEND

Hi Vondee, it’s a 2014 movie so it’s likely sold out. If I see it anywhere I’ll let you know here in the comments section.
