ALL OF ME

Starring: Deyemi Okanlawon, Chika Ike, Love Egbule, Kenneth Okolie

Synopsis:

A village girl lands a secretarial job in the city but she is met with resistance when her manager views her as competition.

Review:

The opening scene commenced with Sandra (Love Egbule) running away from robbers. She had come to Lagos for a job interview and found herself in danger later that evening. Chris (Deyemi Okanlawon) was having car trouble in the area and the two met by chance. He tried to calm her down and she confided her troubles in him.

Luckily, Sandra got the job. She and Chris crossed paths again when he turned out to be her new boss. Since they had already established a rapport, it was easy for them to get along but it was difficult for Nike (Chika Ike) to accept.

Nike was the manager and she had worked for Chris for a few years and had a personal interest in him. She tried her best to get him to notice her but Chris kept a strictly professional relationship.

Nike wrongfully believed Sandra was out to ruin her chances with Chris so she made life difficult for her at work and purposely increased Sandra’s workload and ill-treated her.

Nike then teamed up with Emeka (Kenneth Okolie) with the goal of getting Sandra fired. Emeka frequently visited the office and because Sandra rejected his advances, he was out for blood. Nike and Emeka cooked up a scheme but their plot only worked against them.

Let’s Talk. This drama can be summed up in two words – dry and boring. The story basically went nowhere and was so basic that a two year old could have written it.

The scheme to bring Sandra down amounted to a plan where a wristwatch was planted in her bag to make her look like a thief. Really? That was the master plan? How lame. It’s amazing that the writers couldn’t come better than that. And of course the boss believed Sandra was a thief and suspended her from work.

We’ve seen jilted lovers come together to scheme so this wasn’t a new or bright idea. Another blunder is that Sandra was the personal assistant to Chris yet he never interviewed her. Seriously? How could that be? So he had no say in who would be working so closely with him? Come on. This was the writer’s way of creating a coincidence but it just wasn’t realistic.

The long and short of it is that the story was amateur with no sign of creativity. There was no spark, intrigue, or humor. It was corny and suffered with needless dialogue.

The one thing it did have going for it was the semi-spark between Chris and Sandra (Love Egbule & Deyemi Okanlawon). It would have been nice to see a little romance but there wasn’t even as much as a kiss. So disappointing.

Performances were okay. We’ve seen Chika Ike play a snoot before and Love Egbule and Deyemi were decent as love interests.

Overall? Don’t waste your time. EJECT
